How we started
In 2021, Fliss and Jesse Herschell were prayed out of their home church in Christchurch with the goal of pioneering a church plant in Rangiora. After two years in a great local church - feeling comfortable and content, they felt a strong leading of the Lord to plant Foundation Church in Rangiora; Although unexpected, God confirmed through many avenues that this was his will and that Foundation Church should be planted for the Glory of God. Together, they have a history of serving in North Canterbury, under the banner of multiple local ministries and churches and in a variety of ways for over a decade.
In March 2023 Jeremy Goodman reached out and expressed that he also felt the call to pioneer alongside Jesse in the planting of Foundation Church. Jeremy has served in many roles for over 20 years; including that of a an elder/overseer in the Anglican Church. God used Jeremy to initiate the first Church service on April 2nd 2023 in the Herschell's own home. Since then he has gone on to become a co-founding elder of Foundation Church. Together the Herschell and the Goodman families prayed, fasted, and invested financially, and have seen many people come through the doors of the church who are seeking deeper connection with God, transparent leadership, and a fresh touch of the Spirit. We have even had a family come who received the name of the Church in their prayer time a year before the church was planted.
